Developmental coaching

You already know what to do. The question is who you have to become to do it.
Integral coaching for engineers and engineering leaders. Not advice, not mentoring — a structured programme of practice that builds the capacity you’re missing.
Most of the people I work with are engineers or engineering leaders, and I’ve spent a decade in that world myself — so you won’t have to explain what a sprint or a promo packet or a reorg is. But I’m not here to tell you how to run your team. Plenty of people will do that, and it rarely changes anything. What I do is developmental coaching in the tradition of Integral Coaching Canada, where I trained: we look closely at how you currently meet the situation you’re in, we name what that way of being makes possible and what it costs you, and then we build a programme of practices that grows a new one. It’s slower than advice. It’s also the only thing I’ve seen produce change that survives the next hard week.

A few principles that shape every session
Advice isn’t the bottleneck
You almost certainly already know you should delegate more, or have the difficult conversation, or stop rewriting your team’s code. Knowing has never been the problem. What stops you is deeper than information, and that’s where we work.
We start by understanding how you currently approach the situation
Before any change, I spend time building a picture of how you presently meet things: what you reach for under pressure, what you avoid, what your way of being is beautifully suited to and where it runs out. Most say hearing this back is one of the most useful parts of the whole coaching experience.
A programme built for you and your situation
From that picture I design a specific programme with a defined arc: what we’re building, and the practices that build it. Nobody else gets your programme. It changes as you change.
Practice is where change happens
You’ll leave every session with practices to work with — some of them cognitive, some emotional, some physical, some relational. Real development is embodied across all of those, not just understood in your head. The sessions make sense of what you’re noticing; the weeks in between are where it lands.
The goal is that you don’t need me
This isn’t an indefinite retainer or a place to process your week. An engagement has an end, and the aim is that you leave able to see and develop yourself — with a new capacity you keep, and can keep growing on your own.
Honest over comfortable
Being seen clearly and told the truth kindly is rarer than it should be. I’ll tell you what I actually see, including the parts that are hard to hear — and I’ll stay with you while you work with it.

Who It’s For
This is for you if…
- Engineers stepping into leadership who feel they’re performing a role rather than inhabiting it
- Managers who keep hitting the same wall despite knowing exactly what they should do differently
- Tech leads whose old strengths — being the sharpest problem-solver in the room — have stopped being enough
- Leaders who want to work on themselves, not just on their org
- People willing to practise between sessions, not only talk during them
Probably not a fit if…
- You want tactical advice on a specific engineering or org problem — that’s consulting or mentoring, and I’m happy to point you to both
- You want a framework, a certification, or a curriculum to follow
- You want your existing decisions validated
- You want relief this week — this builds capacity over months
- You’re not open to being seen accurately and told the truth
